Is this what's causing the issues with faculty machines? If I change it from "Follow" to something else, will this fix the issue? If so, are there any ramifications by making the change? I.E. separately, it nests them all under Documents. Instead of listing Documents, Pictures, etc. So this tells me that it's supporting the old XP/Vista way of doing things. Other media folders, like Pictures, are set up like this Under settings, it has "Also apply to Windows 2000, XP, etc.", since we're entirely on Windows 7, is this irrelevant? I found some conflicting information about this online saying that it would break redirection to Windows 7 as well by unchecking that. Obviously this tells me that all the profiles/folders are saved for each user in that OU in that share. On the DC in GPO, Folder Redirection is set up like this for the Documents folder There's nothing in the Documents folder in Windows but the My Documents folder shows their files on the network. As you know My Documents was used prior to Windows 7 and your media folders (Pictures, Videos, etc) were nested within it. In Windows, you either create a symbolic link to a directory by using the command mklink /d linkname targetdir or you create a junction with mklink /J linkname targetdir. ![]() They have a Documents folder which is created in Windows 7 but then a My Documents folder. There is no such thing as a hard link to a directory in Windows. I'd like to resolve it but I haven't dealt with folder redirection before (inherited this network in March) so would like some advice/confirmation before continuing. A teacher approached me with a problem that's been longstanding but the teachers learned to just "deal with it" and carried on.
